A pan India initiative by the NSUI, demanded change in the system from both, the authorities and the students. A wildly successful endeavor, some of the key demands included:
- A reboot of the Student Elections that were banned in 1984. After a signature campaign in 22 districts in Punjab, Akshay and his fellow members of the NSUI were able to convince the government and the Vidhan Sabha to bring student elections in Punjab after 34 long years.
- Demand a reduction in the age of candidature for elections to 18, from 25. If an 18 year old has the power to cast a vote, they should also be allowed to contest such elections.
- A retirement policy for veteran politicians. While government servants and lot of private sector employees are offered retirement policies due the difficulties of working at a late age in life, the same should apply to politicians who spend their lives working for the society.
- A demand to students against Brain Drain. Thousands of students and people from young age leave the nation to try their luck overseas. These talented youths were urged to stay back and utilize their talents in making our own nation a global superpower.
